State Kremlin Palace

Kremlin, Moscow, Russia

Description:

The State Kremlin Palace was built in 1961 by order of Soviet Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev. Then it was called the Palace of Congresses. Originally conceived as a dual-use building, providing a second stage for the Bolshoi Theatre troupe. Opera and ballet performances were regularly held here.

Today, the State Kremlin Palace is considered the most prestigious concert venue in Moscow.

The Kremlin Palace is one of the rare Soviet-era buildings in the Kremlin. The main facie, with vertical marble columns, extends for 120 meters. The exterior is decorated with white Ural marble, golden anodized aluminum and glass. To lay the floor inside the building, the lower floors were lowered 16 meters underground.

Currently, the State Kremlin Ballet is based here and New Year shows for children are held here.
