Grotesque bridges in Tsaritsino

Description:

The slopes of the dry ravine in the southern part of the landscape park "Tsaritsino" connect the Big grotesque bridge, the Small bridge and the Third bridge. These are single-span arch bridges, built in 1805 according to the architectural project of Ivan Egotov.

In the decoration of the Great and Small Bridges, inserts were used from "grotesque" (coarse stone), from where their name came - "grotesque". The smallest - the Third - bridge combined in its appearance red brick and white stone blocks.

By the 1880s, the bridges were gradually dilapidated, and by the beginning of the XX century the Third Bridge had completely collapsed.
During the restoration in 2006-2007, the Great and Small Bridges were tried to restore their original appearance, and, based on descriptions and images preserved from the XIX century, the Third Bridge was recreated.

You can get to the Tsaritsyn Museum-Reserve from the metro stations "Orekhovo" and "Tsaritsyno". The grotesque bridges are located between the pavilions "Temple of Ceres" and "Nerastankino".
