Temple of Archangel Michael in Troparevo
Russia, Moscow, Vernadsky Avenue, 90
Description:
The Orthodox Church of Archangel Michael was built in 1693-1694 on the site where the wooden Cathedral of the Miracle of Archangel Michael once stood. The religious structure of its beauty attracted many directors. It was captured by Eldar Ryazanov in his comedy “The Irony of Fate, or With a Light Steam”, and even earlier the temple flashed in the Italian film “Sunflowers”.
The building was built with money provided by the Novodevichy Monastery, which owned all the lands of the village of Troparevo. According to some reports, the author of the project was Osip Startsev, who also erected the Novodevichy Monastery. In 1939, the temple was closed, it was ruined, and the bells were dropped. In the 60s it became a warehouse of scenery "Mosfilm". Subsequently, the temple was restored, in February 1989 it was consecrated.
