Description:
The church in honor of the Holy Blessed Grand Duke Dimitri Donskoy or Dmitrov Church is a wooden Orthodox church in Moscow, located near the Kashirska metro station (in the park behind the house 23 on Kashirskoye Highway). The abbot, the headman - Priest George Neighbors.
Before the revolution, next to the place where the new temple stands, there was a church of the same name, built in memory of the stop of Dmitry Donskoy’s army in Kolomenskoye on the way back from Kulikovo Field. After 1917, the temple was destroyed.
In 1993, the Orthodox community was registered and a cross was erected on the site where the former church stood. In 2001, construction of a wooden chapel began near the cross. In 2003 the rector of the chapel church was appointed, in 2004 the altar was built, and on January 1, 2005 the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated. Also in 2005, a separate belfry was installed at the temple.
Currently, there is a search for opportunities for the construction of a stone temple of Dimitry Donskoy on the site where the cross still stands.
