Temple of Simeon the Stylus beyond Yauza

Nikolayamskaya Street, 10, Moscow, Russia

Description:

Simeon’s temple has a rich and tragic history. The first mention of the building dates back to the 17th century: at that time the church was wooden. The temple was rebuilt several times, it was looted and destroyed during the French War, and under the advice of the Soviets it was completely given to the needs of engineers.

Divine services in the temple resumed not so long ago – in 1995. Today it is one of the most notable buildings of Taganka. The snow-white walls of the church stand out against the gray buildings of the capital.

Anyone can visit the temple of Simeon Stylpnik today. The building is located on Nikolayamskaya Street. Near it is the hospital of I.V. Davydovsky. You can get to the church by bus H4 and M8 (Illusion stop) or by metro (the nearest station is Taganskaya).
