The Temple of the Trinity of Life-Giving in Silver
Silver Per., 1A, page 10, Moscow
Description:
The church got its name from the place of residence of the masters of the Money (Silver) Court, who were called “silver” in Moscow. The exact date of the temple on this site is not known, but according to some reports, it existed even before the accession to the throne of the Romanovs. In written sources for 1620 the church is listed as wooden, and for 1657 already stone. From 1764 to 1768, Afanasy Goncharov, whose estate was located next to the temple, erected a bell tower. In 1781, the temple was completely rebuilt, from the old stone temple there is only a subclet and partly a wall, the bell tower is moved closer to Yauzskaya Street. The money for the reconstruction of the church was donated by the merchant Tatiana Surovshchikova.
