The Temple of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadash
2nd Kadashevsky Lane, 7, Moscow, Russia, 115035
Description:
The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadash, built in 1687 by master Sergei Turchaninov at the expense of wealthy merchants Kondrat Markovich Dobrynin and his son Longin, was consecrated in 1695. The first mention of it is found since 1493 in the will of Prince Ivan Yurievich Patrickeyev.
It is a stone five-headed four with a tent bell tower and is one of the remarkable buildings of Moscow Baroque. Along with the features of Posad cult architecture, the temple has elements of modern church buildings: the abundance of white-stone jewelry against the background of brick walls gives it a special decorativeness, emphasizing the sophistication of its proportions.
In the temple there are such shrines as the relics of the Optina elders, the relics of the Monk Confessor Gabriel, the image of the Holy Tsar-Martyr Nicholas, the icon of St. Job, the abbot of Pochaevsky and others.
