per. Little Three-Svyattelsky, 3, Moscow, Russia

Description:

In the historical district of Moscow, in the White City, there is one of the largest and oldest churches in Russia - the Central Moscow Church of Evangelical Christian Baptists (ECB). The building of the temple was rebuilt in 1865 by architect Hermann von Nissen from a residential building, and was intended for the Reformed church. The building was handed over to Evangelical Christians in 1917.

For 70 years, during Soviet times, this church was the only open church for worship. In 1917, a prayer house for evangelical Christians was opened in a former Reformed church. In 1928, the Lutheran community of St. Michael appeared in the room. The temple has repeatedly succumbed to legislative oppression and arbitrariness of local authorities.

Over time, the community expanded and in 1946, along the walls of the prayer hall, 2 galleries appeared, designed for 500 seats, and the balcony for the choir was extended in front of the organ.

The church holds a monument to German Romanticism, an organ made by Ernest Reuver. It was built in 1898 and restored in 2012. The building itself is made in the architectural style of electrician. All elements are in a proper ratio, although the structure includes a mixture of several styles.

The Church of the ECB is a monumental building made in light brown and white colors. On its facade there is a large balcony in the form of an arch. The temple became the center of the spiritual life of the EHB brotherhood from all over the world.
