Monument to B. Okudzhava on Arbat

The monument to Bulat Shalvovich is officially called the monument to Okudzhava on the Arbat. But it's actually a little different. The monument is located next to Arbat, in Plotnikovskaya lane. It was there, in the house No. 43, that one of the founders of the author's song in our country was born and grew up.

The decree on perpetuating the memory of Bulat Okudzhava was signed in 1997, almost immediately after his death. But only five years later, this monument by sculptor George Frangulyan was opened. In fact, this is not just a monument to one person, but a small architectural complex with two arches, which captured the very Arbat courtyard, which Okudzhava sang about in one of his best songs.

Bulat Shalvovich is depicted at the age of forty, in the heyday of his work. Behind his back on the arches you can read lines from his songs. And in the folds of clothes - to see the autograph of the sculptor.
