Description:

The first mention of Poklonnaya Hill is found in the chronicles of the XIV century in the descriptions of military litigation between the principalities of Moscow and Lithuania. Foreign ambassadors arrived in Moscow. Napoleon waited in vain for a delegation with the keys to the city as a symbol of surrender.

Now on Poklonnaya Hill there is the Park and the Victory Memorial Complex, which was opened on May 9, 1995, the year of the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War over fascism.

There are also monuments dedicated to the soldiers of the First World War, the majestic Temple of St. George the Victorious and religious buildings of Muslims and fans of Judaism.

The memorial was planned to be created on Poklonnaya Hill in 1942 as a sign that troops were leaving through this historical place for the battle for Moscow, which stopped the enemy hordes. A competition of projects was even announced, which was unexpectedly suspended by Stalin. Work began only in the late 50s.
