Garden Bridge

Garden Bridge, Moscow

Description:

Garden Bridge, located between the Komissariatsky and Cast iron bridges, is a pedestrian arch bridge across the Water Canal between the Sadovnicheska and Ovchinnikovskaya embankments. The total length of the bridge reaches 33 meters, and the width is 4 meters.

The bridge was built in 1963 (and in the same year opened) by the project of engineer Bragina and architects Saveliev and Korchagin. This architectural structure consists of two heating pipes with a diameter of 75 centimeters, which connects Zamoskvorechye with HPP-1 on Raushskaya embankment. The pipes of the bridge were thrown over the top, since laying pipes along the bottom of the channel was more expensive.

The bridge is a boxed arch, based on underground rostrums on pile bases.
