The Cathedral of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God

Description:
The oldest temple of the Novodevichy Monastery. The architecture is similar to the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, although it differs from it in a number of features. The Smolensk Cathedral is attributed to the work of either Aleviz the New (died about 1531) or the architect Nestor (died during the construction of the cathedral).
