Description:

Initially, Taganskaya prison served as a kind of work house for prisoners. There were many workshops: lathes, locksmiths, tailors, binding. There was even one printing house. During the October Revolution, political prisoners were placed in prison. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the prison was reclassified as a transit prison.

At the end of the October Revolution in the prison workshop began to fulfill orders for the troops of internal service and security. In 1920, 1,200 people were in prison. 65% of prisoners were in correctional work.

In 1958, the prison was blown up, and on that site was built a kindergarten of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 4 residential 5-storey houses for Tagan security guards.

To this day, only one of the former prison administration buildings and the prison laundry building remain.
