Theatre Square

northwest of Revolution Square, between Theatre Passage, Petrovka and Kopievsky Lane

Description:

The most beautiful square in Moscow is the Theatre Square. The square is located in the heart, it is convenient to get to it by car along Mokhovaya or Tverskaya, and, of course, by metro to the station of the same name. There was a parade parade and a review of troops under the Russian Empire, and the view from the observation deck opens at once to four theaters: Bolshoi, Small, Youth and the Operatta Theatre!

Initially, there was only one Imperial Theatre on the square. On the big stage, opera and ballet productions were given, and on the small stage - dramatic. Over time, the corpses separated, and there were two theaters, the Big and the Small.

Ostrovsky’s house is also called the Small Theatre. Alexander Nikolayevich was his artistic director for a long time. But the square was named after the architectural dominant - the Bolshoi Theatre. More recently, its 6-year reconstruction has ended. The theater has been expanded, and now under the walking square of Moscow there are additional halls, into which glass tambours lead.
