Alexander Solzhenitsyn Street

alexander Solzhenitsyn Street, Tagansky District, Moscow

Description:

The history of the street begins with the XVII century. In the city made a small street to Alekseevskaya Sloboda, in honor of which it was called Bolshaya Alekseevskaya. A little later, in the XIX century, Alexeyev merchants bought real estate on this street. For a long time it was thought that they were grateful for the street by its name, but in fact it is not.

In Soviet times, the renaming affected all avenues and alleys in Russian cities. And Moscow is no exception. Alekseevskaya became a Small Communist.

In the 2000s, the sign on the street had to be changed again. Instead of Communist, it was made Stanislavsky Street. And just a few years ago, the street was named after a famous writer. The name has survived to this day.

It is noteworthy that on the street there are historical buildings that are perfectly preserved to this day. These are mainly houses and estates of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
