Alymov Street
alymov street, areas Bogoroditsky and Preobrazhenskoe, Eastern district, Moscow
Description:
As for the history of the street, it appeared in the XVI century. It was the central street of the village of Bogoroditsky, which was owned by Ivan the Terrible himself. After him, the lands passed to the merchants Alymov and they renamed the village, calling their surname. The street was called Cherkizovskaya. It began in the center of the village and went towards another village Cherkizovo. Hence the name. In Soviet times, in 1922, the street was named Alimova in honor of the village. After 20 years, Druzhininsky Lane was added to the street, thereby lengthening it a little.
Today, there are mostly high-rise buildings on the street. Residential houses stand each other at a distance of several meters. Near them there is a metro station Preobrazhenskaya Square, and there is a lot of ground public transport.
