Amundsen Street
SVAO, Sviblovo district between Serebryakova Avenue and Snow Street.
Description:
Amundsen Street is located on the territory of the Sviblovsky district, belonging to the North-Eastern District of Moscow. Until 1964 it had another name, namely Medvedkovskoye highway, and since 1964 the highway was converted into a street.
As for the name of the street, it was named after the Norwegian polar explorer Roal Amundsen (1872-1928), who is the first person to pass from Greenland to Alaska from east to west, through the so-called Northwest Passage through the Arctic. It is also known that earlier the highway was named in honor of Vasily Fedorovich Medvedka Pozharsky, an ancestor of Dmitry Pozharsky.
Amundsen Street stretches from the passage of Serebryakova to Snow Street. Numbering of houses begins from the passage of Serebriakov. The closest station to Amundsen Street is the Sviblovo metro station.
