Malaya Ordynka Street

Moscow

Description:

A street in Zamoskvorechye. The street partially preserved one- and two-storey wooden buildings of the old Zamoskvorechye.

Small Ordynka is the remnant of one of the intermediate routes of the Big Ordynka. In the XIV-XVI centuries, the main roads of Zamoskvorechye did not go to the south (the gate of the Earth City then did not exist), and to the southeast the Great Ordynka originally went from Balchug towards the modern Zacepska Square and continued the Kolomenskaya Road (modern Dubininska Street). The modern layout of Zamoskvorechye was formed in the first third of the XVII century (after the destruction of the Troubles and the device of the gate of the Earth City). Large Ordynka took a modern direction (strictly to the south), and Malaya became a secondary passage to the east of it.
