Prechistenka Street
Description:
The Godfather. Prechistenki can be called Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. It was this street that led from the Kremlin to the Novodevichy Monastery, and on it the Emperor usually went to worship. And it was then called the Big Chertolskaya, because it crossed this road by a stream under the not quite harmonious name Chertory. The king decided to change this discord and ordered to call the street Prechistenka, because the monastery kept the famous Smolensk icon of the Most Pure Virgin Mary.
In general, this street was first mapped on the capital in the XVI century.
By the beginning of the XIX century, knowledge began to be built here. On Prechistenka lived Vsevolzhsky, Khrushchev, Lopukhins. This is eloquently said by the prechisten alleys, called by their names.
Thanks to noble buildings Prechistenka and now looks like an architectural island of the XIX century.
After the revolution, the street was renamed Kropotkinskaya, in honor of the famous philosopher, scientist and anarchist. In the nineties of the last century, the former name Prechistenka was returned.
