Razumovsky Manor
Description:
The estate of Count Alexei Razumovsky on Gorokhov Field is a brilliant architectural example of classical wooden architecture. The count believed that the building stone was harmful to health, so only wooden elements were used to build the main house.
True, at first it may seem from the outside that the building is stone, but this is a skillful imitation of stone with the help of plaster.
The building is attractive inside: the halls are decorated with bronze and lapis lapis. But the main value of the estate was the library, which the count diligently collected from many medieval tomes.
There were rumors that during the Napoleonic invasion, the house burned down due to a series of fires, but in fact it resisted and was even guarded by French troops. However, the conquerors valued not the architectural value of the building, but the tranquility of Marshal Murat, who stayed here.
In Soviet times, the estate came almost in an emergency state, but in this century the house was restored, and it was returned to its original appearance. The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation is located here.
The estate is located on the street of the architect Kazakov, 18.
