Smirnov Manor
zemlyano village, Ruza district, Moscow region
Description:
In the very center of the capital, just a few minutes from the metro station "Kropotkinskaya", quietly hiding in everyday city life, is the estate of famous watermen of Russia!
The building was rebuilt more than once before the acquisition of the Smirnov family, and based on its ancient chambers of the 16th century, the creator of which remained unknown. When in 1863 Ivan Alekseevich Smirnov bought a mansion, a better location could not be invented: from the windows opened a picturesque view of the river and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
A few years later, Smirnov managed to buy a neighboring site, where a well-known vodka factory in Russia was subsequently built.
A little later, the estate and the factory passed to his son, and he established the Trading House “I. A. Smirnov and Sons” in 1874.
After the revolution, the plant continued to work under the leadership of Mosgorsovnarkhoz, but later all the factory buildings were demolished. Only the brick estate of the Smirnovs on Bersenevskaya embankment remains, which is now included in the list of objects of cultural regional importance.
