High-rise on Kudrinskaya Square
Russia, Moscow, Kudrinskaya Square, 1.
Description:
The high-rise on Kudrinskaya Square or the Uprising Square, as it was called in the period from 1925 to 1992, was erected in 1948-1954 under the project of architects M. V. Posokhin and A. A. Mndoyants, with the participation of the designer M. N. Vokhomsky.
The building consists of several buildings: the central 24-storey - its height with a tower and spires of 156 meters and side buildings of 18 residential floors each. These buildings are connected into a single structural array, which stands on a common ground floor. In total, there are a little more than 450 apartments in the skyscraper.
Initially, on the first and ground floors there were shops and a cinema "Flame", which in our time no longer work, underground garages are in the basement. Later, most of the basement was converted into a casino, on the site of which a bowling club is located today.
During the construction of the high-rise, it was conceived that the basements of the building smoothly pass into the system of underground structures and bomb shelter, which go far beyond the territory of the above-ground part of the house.
