About the company:
Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum is a unique phenomenon of Russian culture. The museum began in the mid-90s of the XIX century with a private collection of the famous Moscow industrialist and philanthropist Alexei Alexandrovich Bakhrushin (1865-1929). Today, the museum funds more than one and a half million exhibits: sketches of costumes and scenery of outstanding masters of scenography, photographs and portraits, stage costumes of great actors, programs and posters of performances, rare publications on theatrical arts, decorative and applied arts and much more. The theater collection has become one of the most valuable museum collections of modern Russia - it presents the works of Bakst, Golovin, Kustodiev, Dobuzhinsky, Korovin, Yuon, Roerich, Tatlin, Exter, Rodchenko, Popova and other outstanding masters. A variety of exhibitions are held in the main building of the museum and its numerous branches. The Bakhrushin Museum is always open for theater lovers - in addition to a detailed excursion program, interesting for both children and adults, the museum organizes lectures on the history of the theater using unique stock materials, meetings with famous artists, creative evenings. The museum is located in the former estate of A. A. Bakhrushin in Zamoskvorechye. The main building of the museum was built in 1896 by the architect K. Gippius. This is a one-storey mansion made in the forms of early English Gothic. The asymmetrical volume composition has several accents. Square in terms of a tower with a tent roof marked the lobby of the house; nearby, on the facade draws attention to a large lancet window framed in the upper part of the curly attic. The exterior decoration of the structure, with the exception of individual details, is well preserved, but the luxurious interiors, which made a great impression on contemporaries, suffered great losses. To this day, the decor of the “Gothic” lobby and fragments of the cabinet decor have reached.
