State Museum of L.N. Tolstoy

The State Museum of L.N. Tolstoy is a complex of museums dedicated to the writer; the world-famous center for the study and promotion of the creative heritage of L.N. Tolstoy; a repository of handwritten, pictorial, memorial and book materials related to his life and work. In the 8 halls of the mansion (on Prechistenka, 11) the most valuable collections are exhibited: painting, graphics, sculpture, photographs, objects of the era, lifetime editions of Tolstoy’s works. The visitor has the opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of the last century (ancient portraits, engravings, various things belonging to the Tolstoy family create a special aura), look into the creative laboratory of the writer.
