The building belongs to the historical building of the XIX century. Thematic exhibitions from the museum funds are exhibited here. In one of the buildings located on Pyatnitskaya Street and now listed under numbers 12, 14, 16, Tolstoy, together with his brother Sergei Nikolaevich, sister Maria Nikolaevna and her children lived in 1857-58. Life in Zamoskvorechye brought Tolstoy closer to A.N. Ostrovsky, A.A. Fet. Were Tolstoy on Pyatnitskaya M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, B.N. Chicherin, Aksakova.
