Museum-panorama "Battle of Borodino"
Russia, Moscow, Kutuzovsky Prospect, 38
About the company:
On the territory of the former village of Fili, now on Kutuzovsky Prospect, there is a Museum-panorama "Battle of Borodino". The museum is the center of the historical and memorial complex dedicated to the Patriotic War of 1812.
The museum not only presents an overview of a significant historical period for Russia, but is itself a historical monument. The beginning of the exhibition was laid in 1883, when officers of the Grenadier Corps installed a milepost on the site of the burned-out hut of the Military Council. In 1887, the Kutuzov hut itself was restored. In 1912, in memory of Field Marshal M.I. Golenishchev-Kutuzov, the Chapel of Archistratig Michael was erected next to the hut. In 1940, an obelisk was transferred to the territory of the complex from the mass grave of soldiers who died from wounds received in the Battle of Borodino. In 1958, the museum and historical complex was supplemented by a bronze bust of M.I. Kutuzov. To date, the museum also includes the Arc de Triomphe (formerly standing on the square of the Tver outpost) and the Monument to the Glorious Sons of the Russian People.
