About the company:
Museum of V. A. Tropinin and Moscow artists of his time - Moscow Museum in Zamoskvorechye, dedicated to Russian art 1st floor. XIX century.
The backbone of the museum’s collection is the work of Moscow portrait painter Vasily Tropinin. Also in the exposition is a Russian portrait of the XVIII – 1st floor of the XIX century (artists: Ivan Vishnyakov, Alexei Antropov, Ivan Argunov, Fedor Rokotov, Dmitry Levitsky, Vladimir Borovikovsky, Orest Kiprensky, Peter Sokolov, Alexander Bryullov and others). Over 40 years, the collection of the museum has increased almost 10 times.
The museum also houses a large number of works of decorative and applied art of the same time (porcelain, glass, bronze, bead sewing, etc.).
The museum was founded in 1969 by the famous Moscow collector F. E. Vishnevsky, who donated to the city a mansion and 250 artistic works of painting, graphics and decorative and applied arts. (Vishnevsky donated only about 800 works of art to various museums of the country, the voluntary nature of these gifts is debated.)
The museum is located in the alley between B. Ordynka and B. Polyanka, in the restored building of the ancient merchant manor of the Petukhovs of the early XIX century. This is a building of the 1st third of the XIX century, which was the main house of the city merchant manor. This is one of the rare examples of such buildings preserved in Zamoskvorechye. The estate also includes a preserved wooden wing of 1883. Possession is fixed on the plan of Moscow in 1793.
The estate suffered in a fire in 1812 and was rebuilt. “It consisted of a stone house with a wooden mezzanine and an outbuilding. The architectural feature of the mansion is the entrance to the building in the form of a portico. In the interior of the house, a staircase of cast iron of the middle of the XIX century has been preserved.”
