Museum of A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature named after A.M. Gorky RAS

The Museum of A.M. Gorky from the moment of its creation had the main purpose - collecting, storing and studying materials related to the life and work of the writer. The status of the museum also assumed a special specificity of the main directions of the department.

Collective and accounting and storage work is combined with excursion and scientific and educational work. Over the years, the museum has published a large number of scientific publications, including works on the description of collections, art materials, photographs and the personal library of the writer. In addition, popular books, guidebooks, albums dedicated to the history of the museum and the buildings in which it is located were published.

Research staff of the department participate in the work of other departments of the Institute, help in the preparation of various printed publications and the creation of popular science and feature films and television programs with illustrative reference material from the museum's storage funds; make reports at thematic scientific conferences.

To date, the last scientific edition of the museum is in print - "Contemporaries of A.M. Gorky". Photo files. Description”. The department plans to work on the volume "Personal library of A.M. Gorky". (Materials and research); compiling a new collection dedicated to the house-museum on M. Nikitskaya. Gorky Museum holds thematic evenings dedicated to the memory of the writer - March 28 (birthday) - June 18 (death day). Traditional literary and musical evenings are held in the house on M. Nikitskaya - "In the living room of Gorky" - (the penultimate Wednesday of each month) and "Musical meetings on Povarskaya" (the last Saturday of each month).
