Museum of History of I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy

Sechenov University is the oldest and largest domestic medical university, the successor of the medical faculty of the Imperial Moscow University (IMU) traces its history back to 1758. Today there are more than 18 thousand students and 8 thousand employees.

The Museum of the History of Medicine is the main keeper of the memory of the formation and development of Sechenov University, the feat of its doctors during the Great Patriotic War, the memories of outstanding graduates.

The museum collection has about 70,000 exhibits. These are memorial funds of outstanding figures of domestic medicine, the richest collection of tools of the XVIII-XIX centuries, a collection of medals, tokens, chest signs related to medicine, picturesque and sculptural portraits of the luminaries of medical science, anatomical atlases, a unique collection of books and textbooks.

On the first tour, the staff got acquainted with the anthology of domestic medicine from 1755 to 1940, the history of medicine during the Great Patriotic War, visited the memorial office of the Hero of the Soviet Union N.V. Troyan.

Excursions are planned to be held monthly every last Friday of the month from 13:00 to 14:00 by appointment. Applications should be sent by e-mail.
