Museum of History of D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical and Technological University

We are glad to acquaint each of you with the centuries-old history of our university - from the Moscow Industrial School (MPU) to the Russian Chemical and Technological University (Mendeleev RHTU).

The idea of creating a museum hung under the arches of the Moscow Industrial School at the end of the last century. In the 70s of the last century, the need to create a museum was written on the pages of Mendeleevets by teachers of the D.I. Mendeleev Moscow Chemical and Technological Institute A.P. Zhukov, P.M. Lukyanov. T.V. Klushina collected material about students and employees of the MKhTI - participants of the front and rear during the Great Patriotic War.

Since 1987, under the leadership of the rector of the Institute G.A. Yagodin and the head of the military department Y.G. Brodsky, the "Room of Combat and Labor Glory of the Moscow Art Institute" has been equipped on Shelepikha, in which materials of the Scientific Council, the collections of T.V. Klushina, P.M. Lukyanov, as well as materials of departments and other departments of the Institute are transferred.

The Chairman of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Museum for many years was Vice-Rector V.F. Zhilin.

The museum would not have been created and would not have been what it was if it had not been for the dedicated assistants – students and employees of Mendeleevka. The first were Nina Starostina and Tanya Efremova. Photo Fund put in order Ksenia Ochkin.

The museum is created with the creative help of several generations of students. Its development is the bright heads and skillful hands of volunteer assistants and assistants who do everything from dust wiping to the restoration of exhibits and the installation of stock exhibitions. Many helped to fasten stands, place exhibits, make stained glass windows and conduct lighting. Today, our students regularly work in the museum and constantly maintain the exhibition ready for immediate display.

November 21, 1981 G.A. Yagodin held the first excursion in the museum. The conditions of the military department allowed to conduct excursion work with students from the 1st to the 4th year, to hand over credit books at the museum about the completion of military training, to hold meetings with veterans and schoolchildren. Directions and forms of work are expanding and improving. We cooperate with many university museums, actively participate in reviews. The museum is a member of the Scientific and Methodological Council of Museums of Russian Universities, works with schools. Recently, archival research work on the history of the university has unfolded.
