Museum of the Mossovet Theatre
125009, Moscow, St. Great Garden, 16
About the company:
In the late 1970s, a museum was created in the theater, in the funds of which about 3 thousand items are stored. For each performance there is a “case”: the text of the play, posters, programs, photographs, reviews. The exposition of the museum tells about the director and writer S.I. Prokofiev; the famous actor and director of the theater (1925-1940) E.O. Lyubimov-Lansky. Much attention is paid to the director and actor Yu.A. Zavadsky; famous theater actors, including Vera Maretskaya, Faina Ranevskaya, Nikolai Mordvinov, Rostislav Plyatt, Lyubov Orlova, Leonid Markov, Boris Ivanov, Georgy Zhyonov, Gennady Bortnikov and others. Interesting section, which presents stage costumes actors. The museum has a rich library; the funds store negatives and photographs of all performances, samples of printed products: booklets, books, newspaper and magazine articles. Archival materials of the theater were partially transferred to the funds of RGALI, the museum itself today contains only that part of them that is necessary for daily work. The museum is engaged in exhibition and publishing activities, prepares materials for television programs about the theater and actors. Tours of the theater are very successful. One of them is the night “Over the Scenes Tour” with a visit to theater workshops – held for visitors of the Mossovet Theater in the “Night of Theaters”. During the tour, visitors will learn about what happens in the theater after the end of evening performances, how the scenery and stage space are arranged, get acquainted with the museum exposition.
