Paveletsky railway station
Description:
Paveletsky railway station
Paveletsky Station is the passenger terminal of the Moscow-Passenger-Paveletskaya railway station, one of the nine Moscow railway stations.
The station was built in 1900 by the architect A. Krasovsky to service the Ryazan-Ural railway. Serving the 12 most populated provinces of Russia, this road nevertheless had no access to Moscow. In this regard, the Board of Railways made a request to the Russian government to give permission for the construction of the Pavelets-Moscow branch in order to connect the Volga Region with the Russian capital.
Paveletsky station was built according to the building canons of that time: the building is symmetrical with a raised center, high windows, a wide and convenient entrance. On the main facade of the station building from the side of the square were located entrances, lobby, luggage compartment, halls for the public and ticket offices, telegraph, pharmacy and buffet. In the center of the building is a high operating room separating first and second class passengers from third class passengers.
In 1982-1987, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, which, preserving the appearance of the station building and the station square, increased its capacity by 4 times. There are three levels of passenger rooms, a technical floor and the latest service systems. Today the station connects Moscow with the Volga region and the south of Russia.
