Lake Kolvica

Russia, Murmansk region

Description:

Lake Kolvitsky is located in the Murmansk region, in the southwest of the Kola Peninsula. It belongs to the basin of the White Sea and is connected with it by the flowing river Kolvitsa. The total area of the lake is 121 square kilometers. Depth - in places up to 20 meters. The lake feeds mainly on snow. It freezes in October-November, but the icebreaker begins in early June.

In the west, the shores are steep and rocky, and in the east and south - low. The Big River flows into the Kolvitsky Lake. The waves during strong winds on the lake are huge. Therefore, many locals are afraid of the lake, as many people drowned here.

The lake is vast, filled with small wooded islands. The bottom is sandy. Around the mountain, gentle hills and dense pine forests, sandy beaches, the water surface of the lake – fascinating beauty!

It's a very picturesque place. But there's a lot of trash here, too. There are several fishing huts on the islands.
