Lake Rajavr
Description:
Lake Rayavr (from the ancient Sami "rayavr" - "dark lake") is located in the Lovozer tundra, on the Kola Peninsula at the foot of Mount Engporr. The Lovozero tundra massif and Lake Rajavr itself have long been famous for their mysterious, mystical properties. Here was the "place of power" of the ancient Sami.
Cultural and historical value are ancient Sami seids - sacred objects located on the banks.
The lake lies in the basin of the Lovozero massif, which ensures its inaccessibility.
Extreme tourism is popular in the mountains and on the lake. On motor technology you can reach the circus Rayavr and the top of Mount Engpore.
The best months to visit the lake are August, July, April and March.
