Museum of the History of Kola Sami - territorial department of the Murmansk Regional Museum

For more than 50 years there has been a department of history, culture and life of the Kola Sami of the Murmansk Regional Museum in the village of Lovozero. The local population willingly gave to the museum antique household items, clothing, reindeer herding, hunting and fishing. And now on an area of 400 square meters. m exhibited about a thousand museum items, telling about the different northern peoples living on the Lovozer land, their history, the interpenetration of their cultures.

The museum hosts excursions, lectures, events, history lessons. Every year various exhibitions are organized: applied arts, art, children's creativity, dedicated to various holidays. Today will be history tomorrow, too. To show it truthfully and accurately in new exhibitions is the mission of the museum. Today, Lovozero Museum is the only museum about the Russian Sami not only on the territory of the Kola Peninsula, but also on the territory of the whole of Russia.
