Nizhny Sergi is a city (since 1943) in Russia, the administrative center of the Nizhneserginsky district of the Sverdlovsk region. The city is located on the western slope of the Middle Urals, on the Serga River (a tributary of the Ufa River) 100 km southwest of Yekaterinburg. The name of the city occurred by location - on the Serga River, the definition of the Lower indicates the location below the river, upstream of the river the village of Upper Sergi. The word "Serga" is supposed to come from the Komi language: Ser - "marten" and ha from the south - "river". The average temperature of January is -16C, July is about +17C. Precipitation is about 500 mm per year. Lower Sergi is one of the oldest balneological resorts in the Urals. The main natural therapeutic factor is weakly sulfide sodium chloride water (the mention of the source refers to the first half of the 18th century, for therapeutic purposes was first used in 1830), which is now used for drinking (bottled as therapeutic and table water, called Nizhneserginskaya), baths, etc. Mud treatment is used (used imported sapropel mud of Lake Moltaevo). Digestive treatment. The city of Nizhny Sergi, like many modern Ural cities, originated on the basis of metallurgical production. In 1743-1744 on the lands bought from the Bashkirs, Demidov built a cast iron and iron plant, which in 1789 was sold to Mikhail Konstantinovich Gubin.
