About the company:

The history of the Nizhny Novgorod State Circus begins with the end of the XIX century. At that time, the Nikitin brothers decided to establish a permanent circus in Nizhny Novgorod. For this purpose, a wooden, round building was built in the city center, the opening of which took place on July 28, 1883.

Exciting circus art was a great success with locals, especially children. So there was a need for reconstruction, a more spacious building, made of stone. On July 19, 1887, the doors of a new, expanded circus opened. Here were the first performances in Russia under electric lighting.

The modern Nizhny Novgorod circus is a massive, stationary complex, occupying 30 thousand square meters. The huge stable houses 37 stalls for horses, there are special rooms for predators, elephants, monkeys, as well as marine animals and many other animals. On a huge territory there are all the necessary outbuildings, a veterinary clinic, garages for transport. In the hall, around the arena there are 2,000 seats for spectators, the latest lighting and sound systems are built in. Outside, the white circus building attracts original arched windows with stained glass windows.
