Makariev monastery
Description:
The monastery was founded in the first half of the XV century by St. Macarius of Zheltovodsky and Unzhensky.
The monastery is named after the Yellow Lake, on the bank of which St. Macarius founded the monastery. The Volga River, changing its course, eventually absorbed the lake, and the monastery was on the Volga coast.
The throne of the central cathedral is consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity, so the monastery is called Trinity.
