From Kremlin to Monastery
Description:
... There must be merchants here.
Arriving at the fair, we met.
(Ear, potatoes, cucumbers)
And a samovar with hot tea.
We had a leisurely conversation.
Bragging about merchandise and cheeks.
Buy and sell. And -- who -- who.
And the profits in my mind counted...
In ancient times, Christmas street connected the Lower Bazaar and the Annunciation Square (near the monastery of the same name). The proximity to the piers determined its commercial purpose. We can say that this is Nizhny Novgorod Zaryadye - residential buildings located behind the shopping rows.
Rapid development of Christmas has received since the beginning of the Nizhny Novgorod (Makarev) fair. Here they built good-quality beautiful mansions and rented them - hundreds of thousands of merchants and travelers came to the fair. Tractires, night establishments, bank offices, bathhouses, barbers – all were subordinated to the needs of the largest bargaining in Europe.
Today on Christmas - wide sidewalks, elegant lanterns, excursion tram and fifty restaurants for every taste.
Miraculously preserved Stroganov Church is one of the most beautiful in Russia, for more than three hundred years surprises guests of the city.
Our route is from the walls of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin to the Annunciation Monastery, from the foundation of Nizhny Novgorod to the present.
