Nizhny Novgorod

Necklace on the Woodpecker Mountains

Description:

... You know, this town is very, very busy.

Lots of beautiful places.

And an unreal night.

Views here.

See, there's a far arrow.

(Watch my hand)

Rivers come together.

Volga and Oka.

Look, I've seen a lot of people.

Hundreds and ancient mine.

With this wall red

Bright in winter...

A stone necklace thrown on the slopes of the Dyatlovy Mountains is so figuratively called the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. I would add a coral necklace, because the fortress is red-brick color. At the height difference of about 80 m is the Kremlin, which is more than 500 years old. Built under the leadership of Italian architects on the last word of fortification, it was never taken by the enemy, although it was besieged dozens of times.

First, back in the 13th century, a wooden detinnet was erected, which was repeatedly burned and restored. The military fortress protected not only the residents of the city, but also the entire eastern border of the territory of the Vladimir-Suzdal principality, and then Moscow Rus.

In the Kremlin preserved the oldest temple of Nizhny Novgorod Michael-Arkhangelsk Cathedral. It is here that the remains of Kuzma Minin, who gathered a militia in 1612 to liberate Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian invaders, rest.
