Walk around Nizhny Novgorod (car and pedestrian)

There were many heroic pages in the life of our city. In the XIV century it was the capital of the Great Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod principality, not subject to the Moscow princes. In the XV and XVI centuries it became the most important fortress of the united Russian state on its eastern borders. And during the Great Troubles of the “rebel” XVII century, Nizhny Novgorod became the center of concentration of patriotic forces of Russia in preparation for the decisive battle with the Polish-Lithuanian interventionists for their national sovereignty.

With the onset of the XIX century Nizhny became one of the main business centers of the Russian Empire. This was due to the history of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, where industrialists and traders from all over Europe and Asia met. And when the century of merchants passed, powerful defense production began to develop rapidly in the city.

Today Nizhny Novgorod is the fifth most populous city in Russia. It's a big modern city. However, each of its historical streets has retained the imprint of gray antiquity. Let's meet them!
