Over the years, the city has experienced many events and in different centuries played an important role in the life of the country: the city was an important defensive border during the Tatar-Mongol invasion, the center of the formation of the Second People's Militia in 1612, the pocket of Russia and a powerful industrial center. Many important people of their time visited our city: for example, Lewis Carroll came to see the Fair, Alexander Dumas met the heroes of his book in Nizhny, and Chaliapin performed his operas in the local theater and met his love here.
