Church in the Name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on the territory of Nizhny Novgorod was laid on the Day of National Unity and is located at the Zelensky Congress. Earlier in this place was one of the oldest wooden temples. Nizhny Novgorod. The brick church, reminiscent of the Kazan Cathedral of the capital’s Red Square, was erected in honor of the heroic events of the People’s Militia with the money of the merchant Athanasius Olisov.

Especially significant is the visit to the church on the day of veneration of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, when a festive procession was held, which originates in the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. Today, the temple, which is a classic form of medieval Russian architecture in the form of a four-pillar church with a single head and a bell tower, is deservedly a place for pilgrimage of numerous praying people.
