Ivanovo Tower is the largest four-tier tower with the gates of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. The tower did not preserve its historical appearance, since in the 50s of the last century it was literally doubled by restorers.
According to one version of historians, the construction of the tower was started in the early 16th century, and it was then called Tverskaya. The main task of the tower was the defense of the fortress from the commercial piers and posad.
Ivanovo Tower is located in the north-west of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, which can be reached both as part of the excursion group and by public transport.
