Monument to Kozma Minin

In Nizhny Novgorod, on Minin and Pozharsky Square, a bronze monument to Kuzma Minin was installed, who was not just a hero of Russia, but also a famous citizen of the city. The idea of the monument arose in the early twentieth century, but for a long time there were no funds for its implementation. Even when the first pedestal stone was laid in 1912, the project was frozen for another forty years.

The monument was not opened until 1989. A bronze sculpture on a high pedestal depicts Kuzma Minin with his left hand raised, calling on the Russian people to rise against the Polish invaders. At the base of the monument, a memorable inscription was made - "To the Great Patriot of the Land of Russian Kuzma Minin".
