The sculpture "Merry Goat" is located in Nizhny Novgorod on Theater Square. The sculpture appeared here in 2005. She didn't choose her place by accident. The same name is the All-Russian festival of theatrical cabbages, which has been held in Nizhny Novgorod since 1993, in which theater groups of Russia and the Near Abroad take part.
The goat also has its own history, which begins in 1781, when the city was awarded the coat of arms with the image of a deer. However, the provincial authorities, as a result of separation from the city, created their own coat of arms, on which the deer was depicted with horns thrown back and a raised leg, which caused ridicule among residents and reminded them of a dancing goat.
