On 22 thousand square meters of M. Gorky square there are about 250 trees of various breeds brought from different parts of the former Soviet Union, and 5 thousand shrubs.
Among this botanical rampage is the monument to Maxim Gorky, which is an object of federal and regional cultural significance. 13 years before its creation, the All-Union Contest of Monument Projects was announced, the winner of which was V.I. Mukhina. Its implementation was prevented by the Great Patriotic War. After the war, Gorky Square underwent reconstruction - a square was organized on it, where a monument was opened.
In the recent past, this square was almost destroyed when an application for the construction of a shopping complex was approved. Fortunately, the square stood up. Now attempts are being made to change the status of the square to recreational. Today, the park is open to all who wish.
