Jomini Manor
Description:
Jomini Manor is a historical manor house. Unfortunately, it is impossible to see the house inside, you can only see it from the outside. The house is not pretentious, it is simple and stylish. A special decoration is a huge carved balcony from which you can see the whole district. The house was built without a foundation, on an elevation, but it did not collapse at all.
Surrounding the house is a wonderful park with benches and gazebos. Huge vineyards and apple orchard create unique beauty, especially in spring and autumn.
The owner of the estate, Antoine Henri Jomini, a Swiss, was a military historian and served in the Swiss and French armies. In the early nineteenth century, he was accepted into service in the Russian army by Emperor Alexander II himself. Jomini did not accept Russian citizenship, but this estate was his dream. The land was given to him for his hard service. And Jomini built here a beautiful stone house, which found a successful combination of elements of three states - Russian, French and Swiss. At one time A.S.Pushkin, F.I.Tyutchev, Count Pashkov, Prince Gorchakov visited the estate.
You can get to the estate by bus Nizhny Novgorod - Salgany, to the village of Baronsky.
