About the company:
The Gorky Literary Museum presents an interesting exposition to tourists, acquainting travelers with both the photo history of Nizhny Novgorod and the history of the life of an outstanding Russian writer.
The Literary Museum was opened in May 1928. June 18 in the museum is a festive date, it is the birthday of the writer.
In the Literary Museum you can see the photo works of such masters as M. Dmitriev and A. Karelin: so, their works capture the city streets and squares, colorful fairs and interesting people who contributed to the spiritual development of the writer. In one of the halls of the museum, tourists will be able to get acquainted with the work of A. Pechersky, the author of the novel “In the Forests”, dedicated to the Old Believers. The exposition of the other rooms tells about the life and creative search of A. M. Gorky, his attitude to the revolutionary events of 1905 and 1917, as well as the prototypes of his characters: I. Gordeyev, Vassa Zheleznova, Artamonov and others.
The museum is located in a building built in 1882 by the architect from St. Petersburg N.D. Grigoriev. The building is a vivid example of a residential merchant house of the 2nd half of the XIX century, made in the traditions of academic eclecticism.
The museum is closed for repair and restoration work!
