About the company:
The Nizhny Novgorod region is famous for its traditional art crafts: Khokhlom painting, city embroidery, painting and wood carving, Cossack filigree, Balakhnin lace and much more. In Nizhny Novgorod, on the main pedestrian street - Bolshaya Pokrovskaya, there is a Museum of the History of Art Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where you can see all this wealth.
The Museum of the History of Artistic Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region presents about four thousand works of folk art, allowing to trace the history of the development of Nizhny Novgorod art crafts during the XVII-XXI centuries. The beginning of the acquisition of the museum belongs to the second half of the XIX century.
Having entered the museum, guests seem to fall into a fabulous Russian tower - architectural carvings of the XIX century are presented here. And for good reason: The Nizhny Novgorod region is the birthplace of deaf house carvings.
The Nizhny Novgorod province is also the founder of most of Russia’s crafts. It is believed that two-thirds of all fisheries are concentrated in the Nizhny Novgorod land. In the exhibition you are expected:
- three types of painting: Khokhlom, Gorodetsk and Polkhov-Maidan;
- artistic woodcarving;
- filigree;
- ceramic and metalworking fisheries;
- folk toys;
- Stone and bone carving.
Guests of the museum will also visit a peasant dwelling with carved casings, dishes and household items; in a rural church with carved royal gates; in a merchant house with wooden furniture in the national Russian style.
